I’m a Denver-based cultural sociologist and birder who’s just a bit obsessed with Nightjars (aka Goatsuckers). So much so that I’m writing a book about a single species – the Eastern Whip-poor-will. Tentatively titled The Whip-poor-will: The Cultural History of America’s Most Meaningful Bird, the book will be published in spring or summer 2027 by NYU Press.
